[MATUS: "Deputy Head of the Engineering Troops of the Defence Ministry of Russia Born on March 15, 1952 in the settlement of Yarmolintsy, Khmelnitsk Region. In 1973 he graduated from the Kamenets-Podolsk Higher Military Command School of Engineers and served in the engineering units of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany. In 1978 he was dispatched to the Siberian Military District where he held the posts of company commander and head of the engineering service in a brigade. Upon graduation from the Military Engineering Academy in 1985, he served as deputy head and subsequently head of the engineering service of the Strategic Missile Force. He was appointed Deputy Head of the Engineering Troops of the Defence Ministry of Russia by presidential decree of July 9, 2002" (Military News Bulletin No 011, 1 Nov 02).]
