Since their introduction in 1996, Patriot missiles have been deployed in Nankang, Linkou, and Wanli to protect Taipei from missile attacks from the mainland. Taiwan will test the US-made Patriot missiles in the middle of the year 2000 at Chiupeng missile base in Pingtung.
