Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD)
The Rassemblement congolais pour la democratie (RCD) is the main rebel group fighting to overthrow President Laurent Desire Kabila. Reportedly split into two factions, with RCD-Kisangani led by the movement’s former president Ernest Wamba dia Wamba, and the mainstream RCD-Goma led by the new president Emile Ilunga. The former is said to be backed by Uganda, the latter by Rwanda.
