STANDING COMMITTEE OF THE POLITICAL COMMISSION
1999 - Year of Generalised Popular Resistance
COMMUNIQUE NO. 27/CPM/99
It was José Eduardo dos Santos' decision in December '98 that turned Angola into a brazier. He must be held responsible for this war.
The Generalised Popular Resistance has established itself in the country as a continuously improving force in defense of the excluded people of Angola, until Eduardo dos Santos sees reason.
UNITA publishes details of the following most relevant military operations carried out by the Generalised Popular Resistance forces on June 30th, 1999.
1. Province of Malange:
The village of Kamatete situated 8km east of the city of Malange was liberated. During the action 13 MPLA soldiers were killed.
2. Province of Lunda Norte:
An MPLA AN-12 airplane flying from Luanda to Saurimo with an important military delegation of the Eastern Front Command on board, was shot down by the Generalised Popular Resistance forces, in the area of Xá-Muteba. The referred high ranking officers, together with the war material on board the plane, proves that it was in the service of Eduardo dos Santos' forces.
