IMINT - Imagery Intelligence
The Chinese currently have a limited spaceborne photoreconnaissance
capability that focuses on collecting imagery over the Russian border. The
Chinese also use a variety of fixed wing aircraft to collect photographic
imagery. None of these systems present a substantial intelligence collection
threat to U.S. forces in the region. U.S. intelligence agencies believe that
China will likely develop a mid-resolution electro-optic imaging system in
the future that will provide the Chinese with improved capabilities.
