Hunter-to-JRTCFollow-on Employment Concept
- Per CSA direction, Hunter-to-JRTC to support development of TTP for Light/Strike Forces at JRTC
- Hunter UAV to operate as surrogate “Bde Cdr’s UAV”
- 21st MICAS operates/controls UAV with AD supported units from “in-the-box;” as Division asset for NG/USAR units
- 21st MICAS to consist of 16 military, 1 gov’t, and 16 TRW, Inc. contractor personnel
- Operates from Self FLS; “green suit” UAV control for unit support, TRW launch & recovery
Notes:
- National Guard utilization of UAV support (UAV control at Division vice at 29 SIB) supports the “Walk before Run” concept and follows doctrinal concept for Reserve/National Guard augmentation to Active Army forces
- TSM-UAV/PM JTUAV/111th MI Bde briefing visit to JRTC - 19 Jan 99
- Provided JRTC & Fort Polk staff with 18 Dec CSA decision brief
- Walked the terrain and provided system considerations for JRTC decision on asset placement (Self Forward Landing Strip {FLS})
- Current JRTC UAV planning:
- Unit of Assignment: HHC, JRTC Operations Group
- Operational Alignment: work for/under the Chief, Intelligence Division, JRTC Operations Group
- Unit Base of Operations: placed at Self FLS. Hunter unit will operate/maintain system from permanent facility (building, concrete pad, fenced area)
- CG, JRTC & Ft Polk wants full Hunter baseline system fielded to permit flexibility to support JRTC Rotations, Mission Rehearsal Exercises, & 2ACR prep for NTC Rotations
