Direct Receipt of sensor data
- Responsive (Maybe not, even if approved)
- Product Useful? Targetable?
- Dependent on multiple RFIs / approvals
- Dependent on Dedicated Communications
AF hands off complete cntrl of AV and sensors
Army accepts central of AV and sensors
- Product is Useful (Platform and sensor Central by Army)
- Dependent on single request for platform / approval
- Guarantees Communications
Lvl I - Secondary Imagery Dissem
Lvl II - Direct receipt of imagery
Lvl III - Payload Control
Lvl IV - AV and Payload Control
Lvl V - Launch and Recovery
TCS Levels of Control with AF Predator
Notes:
Assuming the theater architecture supports the AF CONOPS
(And we have shown it doesn’t)
- Lvl II does not exist today, only - Lvl IV available today
- Training - AF doctrinal RISTA - Army trained and operated - operators know
training focus on different target what to look for: Planning -- Understand the
sets than Army ground, Preparation --Validate templates, and
Execution -- support maneuver/fires
- Sensor Control - Predator “soda straw”, AF - Army operated AV and sensor assures
may not get it on target, or send non-usable platform in correct position and sensor look
image (demands AV control) angle on target will be correct
- Comms - dedicated, full-duplex required - Guarantees Comms
with AF UAV LNO and / or AF operators
- Coordination - cumbersome, multi-echelon - Once AV is handed off, belongs to Army for
players involved specific time
