Control Station Surrogate (CSS)
- The Control Station Surrogate (CSS) provides a Air Vehicle Operator (AVO) and Mission Payload Operator (MPO) with a system to control a simulated air vehicle (GCS Driver) and payload, conduct mission planning for EO, IR, and SAR missions and generate tactical messages and imagery products to send to real-world C4I systems.
- The CSS is hosted on a SUN Sparc20 or Ultra Workstation running under DII COE with the Joint Mapping Toolkit (JMTK) and Tactical Communications (TACCOM) segments.
- The JMTK segment within the DII COE Unified Build provides the operator with standard map products (ADRG, CADRG, DCW, DTED, CIB, …) and MIL-STD 2525 symbology. JMTK functionality includes line-of-site analysis, map scale and panning, zoom, friendly and threat/target symbol placement and tracks, and overlays such as battlefield geometry, ATOs, etc.
- The TACCOM segment allows the operator to generate USMTF, IEW COMCAT, and TACFIRE messages delivered electronically (FTP, E-Mail, NFS, TCIM) to C4I systems, e.g., ASAS, AFATDS, CGS and TBMCS.
- Freeze-frame payload images can be captured with payload specific positional overlay information in NITF 2.0 format and sent to C4I systems or saved locally in various formats.
