ALLIANCE GROUND SURVEILLANCEINTEROPERABILITY vs INTEGRATION
Extra-AGS Interoperability
Intra-AGS Interoperability
Notes:
Interoperability of the NATO AGS capability can be divided into two aspects: Intra-AGS Interoperability and Extra-AGS Interoperability.
By Intra AGS Interoperability is meant the ability for the AGS assets themselves to share data and services. This deals with the question of how to distribute data within AGS and potentially fuse it with data from any other available sensors or intelligence systems.
Extra-AGS interoperability deals with the problem of integration of the AGS capability and data into the planned and existing NATO and national C3I infrastructures. This provides the channels and means to share AGS data products with the end users and to import data into AGS that can assist in mission planning and data exploitation.
This paper concentrates mainly on the first of these two problems, namely: Intra-AGS interoperability.
