UAVs will become more and more important. There are two reasons for that.

First,

the complementary roles of stand - off and penetrating platforms. Stand - off RECCE means are impeded by shadows caused by terrain and horizon, which penetrating platforms can overcome. Also identification is not possible by stand - off means.
