Conclusions
- UAVs will be an integral and substantial part of the future AOB
- UAVs will be employed in nearly all air operations tasks supported by ACCS
- UAV operations must be fully integrated into the NATO Air C2 structure and fully supported by ACCS to effectively support the overall air campaign
- Despite their similarities with manned aircraft, UAVs have unique characteristics that require that they be specifically addressed by means of their own ACCS requirements
- The most significant potential problems in C2 of UAVs are detection/tracking and data transmission/dissemination, but the problems can be reduced through planning and coordination by both the UAV and ACCS development communities.
