Potential Shortcomings- UAV Detection and Tracking -
- Existing NATO C2 Shortcomings:
- Current NATO surveillance systems cannot reliably detect & track many UAVs (small, stealthy, low altitudes)
- Minor impact (limited numbers/types of UAV operations enable workarounds)
- No interfaces exist between ICC and UAV control systems
- NATO ACCS Needs for Effective C2 of UAVs:
- Receive/process UAV position/track data from UAV control station & incorporate UAV track in RAP
- A mix of surface-based and airborne radars
- UHF/VHF radars to detect/track low-altitude, low-RCS UAVs
- Asynchronous fusion of data from various sensor types
