UNMANNED/UNINHABITED AERIAL VEHICLE (UAV)
COMMAND AND CONTROL (C2) WORKSHOP
9-10 February 1999, The Hague, The Netherlands
An Unmanned/Uninhabited Aerial Vehicle (UAV) Command and Control (C2) Workshop was conducted at the NATO Consultation, Command and Control Agency (NC3A), The Hague, The Netherlands on 9 and 10 February 1999. The Workshop was attended by nearly 70 participants representing 13 of the 16 NATO member nations (Spain, Iceland, and Luxembourg abstained) and 1 (Poland) of the 3 invited nations. Workshop participants included military, government civilian, and contractor personnel responsible for development and operation of both UAV and C2 systems.
In addition to NC3A, the Workshop was co-sponsored by Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) Operations & Logistics Division and the NATO Air Command & Control System Management Agency (NACMA).
The Workshop provided a forum for the exchange of information among developers and operators of both UAV and C2 systems to contribute to effective employment and maximum possible interoperability of UAVs within the NATO C2 structure. Particular emphasis was on C2 issues, and four discussion areas were addressed:
This CD contains the minutes of the Workshop. Included are this overview, the Discussion Area Leader’s minutes from each of the four discussion areas, the Workshop Leader’s minutes from the 10 February wrap-up session, and all viewgraphs presented. A briefing key is included that matches each presentation to the number given to the file for that presentation. Presentation abstracts and presenter biographical data are also included.
SHAPE, NACMA, and NC3A extend our sincere appreciation to those organizations and individuals that delivered presentations during the Workshop. Without exception they were interesting, informative, and professionally done.
We would welcome any comments that you may have on this Workshop or recommendations for additional UAV C2 workshops in the future.
