(President designates democratic opposition organizations) (240) Washington -- President Clinton February 5 forwarded to the Secretary of State a Presidential Determination listing groups he has designated as democratic opposition organizations, as called for under the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998. Following is the text of Presidential Determination No. 99-13: (Begin text) THE WHITE HOUSE Office of the Press Secretary February 5, 1999 Presidential Determination No. 99-13 MEMORANDUM FOR THE SECRETARY OF STATE SUBJECT: Designations Under the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 Pursuant to the authority vested in me as President of the United States, including under section 5 of the Iraq Liberation Act of 1998 (Public Law 105-338) (the "Act"), I hereby determine that each of the following groups is a democratic opposition organization and that each satisfies the criteria set forth in section 5(c) of the Act: the Iraqi National Accord, the Iraqi National Congress, the Islamic Movement of Iraqi Kurdistan, the Kurdistan Democratic Party, the Movement for Constitutional Monarchy, the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, and the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq. I hereby designate each of these organizations as eligible to receive assistance under section 4 of the Act. You are authorized and directed to report this determination and designation to the Congress and arrange for its publication in the Federal Register. WILLIAM J. CLINTON (End text)
