DURING THE CLOSING MONTHS OF WORLD WAR-II. DETAILS OF THE PLAN HAVE BEEN REVEALED IN SECRET WARTIME PAPERS MADE PUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME BY BRITAIN'S PUBLIC RECORD OFFICE. ACCORDING TO SECRET WARTIME PAPERS, SPECIAL OPERATIONS EXECUTIVE WHOSE AGENTS WORKED TO FOSTER SUBVERSION BEHIND ENEMY LINES, DREW UP DETAILED PLANS TO ASSASSINATE HITLER, BY SNIPER, POISON, BOMB OR BY DERAILING HIS TRAIN. THE MOST FEASIBLE OF THESE WAS A SNIPER ATTACK ON HITLER, WHO REFUSED TO HAVE SECURITY GUARDS ANYWHERE NEAR HIM AS HE MADE THE 15 TO 20 MINUTE WALK EACH MORNING NEAR THE HIDEAWAY HE HAD BOUGHT IN THE 1920s AS A HOLIDAY HOME. THE GERMAN LEADER MADE ASSASSINATION ATTEMPTS EVEN EASIER BY STICKING TO A RIGID ROUTINE DURING THE LONG PERIODS HE SPENT AT BERCHTESGADEN IN THE SOUTHERN REGION OF BAVARIA. THE PLOT WAS NEVER CARRIED OUT BECAUSE BRITISH MILITARY LEADERS FELT THE INCREASINGLY ERRATIC HITLER , CONSTANTLY OVERRULING HIS SENIOR COMMANDERS, HAD BECOME ONE OF LONDON'S GREATEST ASSETS.
