EYAD ISMOIL FLED TO JORDAN AFTER THE BOMBING WHERE HE WAS ARRESTED IN 1995. VOA CORRESPONDENT ELAINE JOHANSON REPORTS FROM NEW YORK: TEXT: EYAD ISMOIL HAD ADMITTED TO DRIVING AN EXPLOSIVES-LADEN TRUCK INTO THE PARKING GARAGE OF THE WORLD TRADE CENTER. HE ARGUED HE WAS NOT AWARE OF THE TRUCK'S CONTENTS. BUT A JURY FOUND HIM GUILTY LAST NOVEMBER OF PARTICIPATING IN THE BOMBING. BESIDES THE JAIL SENTENCE, ISMOIL WAS ORDERED TO PAY 200-FIFTY-THOUSAND DOLLARS FINE AND ANOTHER 10 MILLION DOLLARS IN RESTITUTION TO THE VICTIMS OF THE BOMBING. U-S PROSECUTORS SAY THE SENTENCE SENDS A CLEAR MESSAGE THAT THE UNITED STATES WILL RESPOND TO TERRORIST ACTS WITH THE FULL FORCE OF THE LAW.
