SECURITY AGENCIES ON HIGH ALERT ISRAEL LINE MONDAY, MARCH 24, 1997 Security agencies remain on high alert following Friday's terrorist attack in Tel Aviv, Israel Radio, KOL YISRAEL, reported. Military and security sources believe that terrorist attacks may continue since the Palestinian Authority is not acting determinedly against terrorist organizations. Security agencies would like to see the PA arrest those suspected of terrorist activity, ban weapons, disarm terrorists and destroy terrorist infrastructure. The closure imposed on the territories following Friday's attack continues, and there are considerable security forces in the territories. A security source said that intelligence is the only way to foil a terrorist attack. The official added that there has been a recent decrease in the level of cooperation between Israeli and Palestinian security forces. KOL YISRAEL reported that, in spite of the tension between Israel and the Palestinians, the different coordination and liaison offices in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip continue to operate. Joint patrols have also continued, though they are not conducted within the main parts of Arab cities, but rather on the outskirts. MA'ARIV reported that the IDF and security forces continued on Sunday to arrest terrorists in parts of the West Bank, especially in Hebron. Thirty-seven terrorists have been arrested in the past 24 hours, most of them in Area B, where Israel maintains full responsibility for security. Four Israelis, among them two border policemen, were injured during riots in Hebron on Sunday, HA'ARETZ reported. Mobs threw molotov cocktails and stones at IDF soldiers in Hebron and Bethlehem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was interviewed by an Egyptian television network, MA'ARIV reported. During the broadcast, which was simulcast live in Israel, parts of Europe and many Arab states, Netanyahu said that he would not halt construction in the Har Homa neighborhood of Jerusalem.
