GENERAL SECURITY SERVICE INVESTIGATION COMMITTEE TO SUBMIT FINDINGS ISRAEL LINE TUESDAY NOVEMBER 7, 1995 The General Security Service committee charged with investigating the circumstances that led to the assassination of Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin is scheduled to submit its conclusions today, YEDIOT AHARONOT reported. Senior officers in the General Security Service and bodyguards at Saturday evening's peace rally were among those questioned by the committee, which was appointed by the head of the GSS. The head of the Prime Minister's security detail at the rally - - who was also wounded in the assassination -- was questioned as he recuperated in a hospital. According to the newspaper, preliminary findings show that serious lapses lead to the breakdown of the security structure protecting the Prime Minister. Security officials demanded that a state investigation committee be established to examine all the aspects of the assassination, including how extremist right-wing organizations have been treated. According to the newspaper, the intelligence department of the General Security Service will face difficult questions. The assassin Yigal Amir did not appear in police or GSS records as a right-wing extremist despite his extensive participation in right-wing activities and his statements favoring the murder of the Prime Minister. According to the newspaper, he should have been placed under surveillance. YEDIOT AHARONOT explained that security for high profile political events is provided by the General Security Service and the police operate under the command of the GSS. ISRAEL LINE
