YELTSIN MEETING PLANNED
President Bush and Russian Republic President Yeltsin will meet at Camp
David February 1 for a working luncheon and discussion of nuclear issues
and developments in the former Soviet Union.

Deputy Press Secretary Gary Foster said the two leaders "plan an informal
exchange of views on recent developments in Russia and on the major issues
in the U.S.-Russian relationship, including nuclear arms, humanitarian aid,
and the Russian economic program."

The Camp David session, Foster said, substitutes for a bilateral meeting at
the United Nations summit January 31.  He said bilaterals between Bush and
other heads of government will be scheduled around the summit, but no
details are now available.  Bush will be in New York January 30 and 31.

TURKISH PRIME MINISTER TO VISIT WASHINGTON
Turkey's Prime Minister Demirel will make an official visit to Washington on
February 11; no details were given.

STUDEMAN SELECTED FOR CIA POST
The president has nominated Vice Admiral William Studeman, director of the
National Security Agency, to be deputy director of central intelligence.
He would succeed Richard Kerr.  Studeman had previously served as director
of naval intelligence, and as director of the long range planning group for
the Department of the Navy.

DRUG SUMMIT SLATED
The second anti-narcotics summit will be held in San Antonio, Texas, on
February 26 and 27.  White House Press Secretary Marlin Fitzwater said it
will be "another important milestone in the war on drugs."  Bush will be
joined by the leaders of Mexico, Ecuador, Venezuela, Bolivia, Colombia and
Peru.
