Satellite Image of Reliant Stadium,
Home of Super Bowl XXXVIII

In anticipation of the NFL's Super Bowl XXXVIII on February 1, 2004, Space Imaging released an IKONOS satellite image of Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas. The one-meter resolution image was collected on Jan. 19, 2004 by Space Imaging's IKONOS satellite.

This satellite image highlights Reliant Park, the United States' largest sports, entertainment and convention complex. The image features Reliant Stadium, home of the Houston Texans since 2002 and the NFL's first stadium to have a retractable roof. Also seen in the image are Reliant Astrodome (formerly the Houston Astrodome), Reliant Center and Reliant Arena, part of the park's 2.1 million total square feet of exhibit space.

IKONOS travels 423 miles above the Earth's surface at a speed of 17,500 miles per hour. It is the world's first high-resolution commercial Earth imaging satellite.
