COMPENDIUM OF C4 TERMINOLOGY
This Air Force directory (AFDIR) is a new directory that identifies references, abbreviations, acronyms, terms, and definitions most commonly used by the Air Force command, control, communications, and computers (C4) community. It provides in a single document those items most commonly used by C4 personnel. It is not all encompassing, but will assist the user in researching unfamiliar terms. The user may also need to refer to Joint Publication (JP) 1-02, Department of Defense Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms and Air Force Manual (AFM) 11-1, Air Force Glossary of Standardized Terms (soon to be Air Force Doctrine Document [AFDD] 100) for joint terms or Air Force terms that are not specifically related to C4. There are also numerous technical terms used in the military and commercial C4 arena that pertain to a specific subject that are not included. Air Force Manual (AFMAN) 33-270, C4 Systems Security Glossary, and AFMAN 33-271, (S) TEMPEST Glossary (U), also contain C4 terminology from a security perspective. C4 personnel should use this AFDIR as a source document when a standard C4-related acronym, definition, or reference is needed. Use of the items in this AFDIR, as well as those in other Department of Defense (DoD), Joint, and Air Force standard publications, will help all C4 personnel converse with the same understanding. Refer questions on the content of this directory and provide recommended changes on AF Form 847, Recommendation for Change of Publication, to Headquarters, Air Force Command, Control, Communications and Computer Agency, Policy Branch (HQ AFC4A/XPXP), 203 West Losey Street, Room 1065, Scott AFB IL 62225-5224.
