COMNAVRESINTCOM INSTRUCTION
4200.1
Subj: NAME TAG POLICY AND PROCEDURES
Ref: (a) NAVSUPINST 4200.85C
1. Purpose. To establish policy and procedures for
obtaining and wearing name tags. This directive amplifies and
complies with guidance set forth in reference (a). It applies to all
Active Duty and Selected Reserve members of the Naval Reserve
Intelligence Command.
2. Background. The staff of the Commander, Naval Reserve
Intelligence Command (COMNAVRESINTCOM) is comprised of Active Duty
and Selected Reserve members assigned to the headquarters and to each
Reserve Intelligence Area (RIA). These personnel represent the
channel through which the needs of drilling Selected Reserve members,
the Naval Reserve Force and the gaining commands supported are
integrated. As such, these personnel must be clearly identifiable at
all times. Reference (a) authorizes the use of appropriated funds to
meet this identification requirement.
3. Name Tag Policy.
a. General. The following personnel are required to wear
the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command name tag:
(1) All Active Duty and Selected Reserve personnel serving
directly on the staff of the Commander, Naval Reserve Intelligence
Command.
(2) All Selected Reserve personnel assigned as Reserve
Intelligence Area Commander (RIAC) or serving directly on a RIAC
staff.
(3) All Active Duty personnel assigned as Reserve Intelligence
Program Officer (RIPO) or serving directly on a RIPO
staff.
b. Format. Format for the standard name tag will be blue on
a white background with the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command logo
and the member's last name, with the following
exceptions:

(1) Members serving directly on the staff of the Commander, Naval
Reserve Intelligence Command assigned in the positions of Deputy
Commander, Chief of Staff, Command Master Chief, Deputy Chief of
Staff and Chief Staff Officer will have a second engraved line below
the name indicating their position.
(2) Members serving directly on the staff of Reserve Intelligence
Area Commanders assigned in the positions of Reserve Intelligence
Program Officer, Chief of Staff, Command Chief and Deputy Chief of
Staff will have a second engraved line below the name indicating
their position.
c. Original issue. The first name tag for any individual
required to wear one will be procured and issued by the headquarters
staff of the Naval Reserve Intelligence Command.
(1) RIA personnel will gather requirements throughout the month
and submit a comprehensive list of these requirements to
COMNAVRESINTCOM (Code 21) by the last working day of each month.
After monthly submission, additional requests will not be considered
until the following month's submission.
(2) COMNAVRESINTCOM (Code 21) will consolidate all requirements
received from each RIA into one comprehensive list and forward this
list to COMNAVRESINTCOM (Code 52) for procurement.
(3) Upon procurement, COMNAVRESINTCOM (Code 52) will forward the
completed name tags to COMNAVRESINTCOM (Code 21) for distribution to
original requesters.
d. Replacement issue. Replacement of lost or damaged name
tags must be approved by the COMNAVRESINTCOM Chief Staff Officer
(CSO).
(1) Members may use procedures for original issue to obtain
replacement name tags but a replacement must be clearly identified
and justification provided.
