SECTION 6
FOLLOW-ON ACTIONS
Publication of this report containing "AS-IS" models forms a solid foundation from which to improve. Due to time and other restrictions, the models did not include input from all affected areas. Due to the iterative nature of the process, the requirement for future refinement has already been validated. Actions must be taken to resolve a number of issues that remain.
6.1 POTENTIAL TARGETS FOR FURTHER WORK
The following list demonstrates that only the surface of this complex effort has been touched. It has a wide ranging impact that must involve a great many people and agencies to be effective.
- Incorporation of data from agencies such as the National Ground Intelligence Center.
- Classified extensions to the IEW Data Model are required.
- Further development of the IEW Process Model is required to bring it back into a "TO-BE" status.
- Further harmonization of the IEW Data Model with the DOD Data Model and the modeling efforts of other functional areas.
- Further work to migrate the existing IEW Data Model into DOD data standardization efforts and programs.
- Establishment of a goal to harmonize the IEW Data Model with current DIA efforts and the efforts of other agencies.
6.2 RESOURCES AND SUPPORT
Resources and support are essential to the future of the models contained here. To let the effort stagnate when the potential for success is within reach is a waste of time and resources. Also, the future benefits that the IEW Process and Data Models can provide will never be seen. Continuance of the current working group is essential to achieving success. The combination of resources, support, and the personnel with the experience will provide effective solutions to outstanding issues.
