SECTION 1
INTRODUCTION
In support of Army digitization of the battlefield, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) centers and schools are required to develop, using standard off-the-shelf software, process models and data models to provide detailed definitions of functions and information for their respective Battlefield Functional Areas (BFA) or Combat Support/Combat Service Support (CS/CSS) functions. Process and data models are also required to fully document the activities and information unique to ground force operations in
support of Joint Task Force (JTF) and allied operations. These models are key foundations to the Department of Defense (DoD) push for data element standardization. The Command and Control (C2) Core Data Model has been selected as a baseline standard for this effort. In order to facilitate the development of the Army Battlefield Control System (ABCS) Force Level Information (FLI) Data Model, this phase of the IEW Data Model has been accomplished. Use of the existing C2 Core Model ensured a degree of sta
ndardization and prevented a duplication of effort.
1.2 MISSION
Develop Intelligence and Electronic Warfare (IEW) Process and Data Models to represent IEW information requirements and to facilitate DoD data standardization efforts.
1.3 OBJECTIVES
- Develop a baseline activity model for IEW operations.
- Develop an entity relationship diagram for IEW information requirements.
- Incorporate activity model and entity relationship diagram into the Structured Requirements Analysis Planning Report.
1.4 SCOPE
Tactical IEW operations in support of Echelon Above Corps (EAC), Corps, Division, Separate Brigade, Armored Cavalry Regiment (ACR), and Division Maneuver Brigade.
1.5 CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
- Interaction with combat developers to develop user view.
- Interaction with materiel developers to coordinate system requirements.
- Interaction with various IEW subject matter experts (SMEs) to validate the models.
- Interaction with outside functional areas (SIGCEN, C2, DIA, NGIC, NSA, ASPO) to harmonize efforts within DoD.
- DoD’s continuing commitment to data standardization.
- Familiarization with IDEF methodology.
- Availability of existing documentation on IEW functions and information exchanges and requirements to maximize prior efforts.
