Purpose and Scope
This manual concentrates on the defense against enemy efforts to disrupt
or destroy our effective use of the electromagnetic spectrum for communications.
Following the techniques in this manual will increase our chances for success
on the AirLand battlefield.
The communications electronic counter-countermeasures (ECCM) in this manual will assist commanders, staff personnel, and radio operators. This manual will also assist signal officers and electronic warfare (EW) personnel. The techniques in this manual are proven; however, they are not all inclusive. Maintaining effective, friendly communications on the AirLand battle field will depend on our ability to enhance proven ECCM techniques.
This manual amplifies the EW doctrine in the FM 100-5 and FM 24-1.
Appendix D gives instructions for implementing ECCM for radio systems.
